Systems Engineer – Infrastructure Services
 
Position Summary:
 
The Infrastructure Services team provides systems engineering and operational support for network based server and storage hardware and software. The Systems Engineer designs, manages, and administers networks and systems, including servers and storage. Activities include assessment, design,implementation, configuration, documentation, coordination, control, maintenance, troubleshooting,security, usage monitoring and the development of specialized procedures for systems. Responsible for capacity planning, tuning, system monitoring, system performance and problem resolution across all
aspects of the infrastructure.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
 
 Install, configure, maintain and manage networking devices, servers, storage and operating
systems
 Evaluate and/or recommend procurement of network‐related devices, servers, storage systems,
peripheral equipment, and software
 Investigate problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement
solutions
 Guide complex problems from identification to resolution across different departments,
employees and/or systems
 Plan, implement and administer network security, including managing host/device security
 Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and
other operational difficulties
 Investigate, recommend and install enhancements and operating procedures that optimize
network/systems availability
 Ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information being processed, stored,
accessed or transmitted on the network
 Documents system problems and resolutions for future reference
 Participates in audits of the company’s information technology infrastructure by external
organizations
 Participates in and contributes to the planning and execution of business continuity and disaster
recovery capabilities
 Provides technical expertise in researching, identifying, evaluating, recommending and/or
developing information security systems, controls, methods, techniques and models
 Contributes to the organization, processes, teams and product in a significant manner
 Adheres to organizational processes and procedures
 Works independently, and as a team member
 Exhibits initiative and drive to complete tasks in a timely manner
 Displays leadership qualities, takes ownership of assigned responsibilities
Skills and Qualifications
 
The ideal candidate will possess significant experience and expert practical knowledge in the following
areas:
 
 VMware ESXi, vSphere and VMware Tools – Design, scaling, capacity management
 NetApp storage systems and ONTAP OS
 Cisco switches, routers, firewalls, and UCS servers/blades
 TCP/IP‐based LANs, iSCSI and Fiber Channel SANs, VPNs
 Dell PowerEdge servers
 Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2016 and Active Directory (DNS, DHCP, GPO management)
 Current Red Hat/CentOS Linux operating systems a plus
 Systems monitoring and management in a high‐availability data center environment
 Federal Information Technology standards, guidelines, requirements and programs such as
NIST, DISA and DIACAP/RMF
 Vulnerability management programs and patch management
 
 
Experience
 
At least five years of experience in network and/or systems engineering and administration in a mixed
Windows / Linux.
 
Education
 
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field or equivalent work
experience.
