Job Description:

Must possess skills and abilities to perform the requirements of a ship board or airframe structural trade with at least five years of experience supporting their competency to accomplish tasks with little supervision or guidance. Expected to be proficient with reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, technical manuals, design notices, etc. Must know and understand the use of all tools of their trade and expected to accomplish the more complex tasks associated with welding structural repairs to steel and aluminum hull and structure for the utilization of the welding process. Must pass a welding test.

Essential Functions:

  • Must possess skills and abilities to perform the requirements of a ship board or airframe structural trade with little supervision or guidance.
  • Expected to be proficient with reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, technical manuals, design notices, etc.
  • Must pass a welding test to include GMAW aluminum 2G, 3G, 4G and SMAW 7018-11018 2G, 3G, 4G as well as 6G pipe.
  • Heavy structural aluminum experience to include 5000, 6000 series plate and formed base metal
  • US Naval surface ship experience preferred.
  • Must be willing to work within a small team to accomplish objectives, working outside of a designated trade occasionally as project requires.

Qualifications:

  • Must have five (5) years minimum structural experience forming, fitting, and welding shipboard structure, foundations, brackets, and assemblies.
  • Must be able to provide own hand tools specific to the trade.
  • U.S citizenship/legal Alien required
  • Be able to obtain DBIDS credential for Naval Installation access.
Verbal & Practical Tests with in person interview. Weld to verify proficiency, then certify weld procedures.
