Spare Parts Warehouse Operator

 

OVERALL PURPOSE: Operator is responsible for Warehouse and Inventory Management of Spare Parts.  This position is accountable for scanning and recording all pertinent spare part information.  Spare Parts Operators coordinate and move spare parts throughout the Central Warehouse areas for proper storage, receiving, and shipping. This position will also identify and visually inspect the quality of the spare parts as well as the documentation.

OVERALL DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES:

  • Responsible for scanning/recording spare parts info for receiving, shipping, transferring, and cycle counting pertinent information
  • Responsible for packaging spare parts for shipment
  • Responsible for transporting spare parts to and from internal mill customers using stake bed trucks and over-sized pickup trucks
  • Verification of the material master number on the spare part being packaged in conjunction with the information in SAP and reporting and addressing any discrepancies
  • Use forklift equipment, pendant/remote cranes, scales, rigging equipment as required to enable the loading and unloading of spare parts and materials to the proper areas.
  • Performs the shift turnover with the previous and following shift
  • Responsible for the safety, environmental, housekeeping, and cleanliness of the Spare Parts Warehouse area and equipment
  • Visually inspect spare parts, pallets, and crates for damage and/or broken banding and report as needed
  • Ensure the spare parts are packaged, banded, and wrapped prior to put away and/or shipping
  • Ensure reporting is accurate and correct
  • Identify quality defects as the last eyes on the spare parts
  • Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION & ACCREDITATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Valid driver’s license with no driving record incidents within past two years
  • Previous working experience in related position, such as warehouse management, inventory management, heavy equipment operation, material handling, logistics, etc. required
  • At least 1 year of experience in industrial position preferred
  • Knowledge of material handling and heavy equipment operating practice/procedures
  • Knowledge of industrial/manufacturing or warehouse/logistics operation practices
  • Knowledge in manufacturing process systems
  • Computer skills including SAP and MS Office
  • Material handling or heavy equipment operation and able to perform continuous manual labor
  • Ability to follow diagrams and written work instructions
  • Ability to be a self-starter with the ability to follow directions and work in a team environment
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs. utilizing proper lifting techniques
  • Demonstrates strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to competently handle a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Warehouse location in Theodore, Alabama
  • Steel mill environment
  • Driving back and forth between mill site in Calvert, Alabama to warehouse location

HOURS OF WORK:

Shift Work – Rotating 12 hour shifts to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays

TIMEFRAME:

Will start candidate selection(s) in February 2021 preferably.  March at the latest. The contract will be for one year from start date.
