Designer 2 – DOD Clearance Required

NSC Technologies is hiring a Designer 2 – DOD Clearance Required in Norfolk, Virginia. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of have 5-10 years of experience as a Designer.

Essential Job Functions:

Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.

Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as CAD, CAM, or CATIA.

Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposals.

Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning groups such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications.

 Exclude classifications in which incumbents predominantly perform drafting assignments. Leveling Factors: Knowledge Considerable Full knowledge of the job. Substantial acquaintance with and understanding of general aspects of the job with a broad understanding of the detailed aspects of the job. Supervision Given and Received Direct General supervision and instructions for routine work and detailed instructions for new activities or special assignments.

Typical Duties and Tasks Duties & tasks are varied but standardized.

Performs some more advanced functions.

 Resolves routine questions and problems and refers more complex questions to higher levels.

The consequence of Errors may be detected and corrected but may cause moderate loss of time or customer/user dissatisfaction.

Contacts are typical with individuals within their department and occasionally with connections outside their organization.

Contacts involve obtaining or providing information or data requiring some explanation or interpretation.

Qualifications and Experience:

Prior design experience in the 3D product model.

Experience in TeamCenter/NX is a plus.

Education Qualifications:

 Associate’s Degree and one year of experience. 2 years of related experience can be substituted for an Associate’s Degree. 4 years of non-related experience can be substituted for an Associate’s Degree. An Apprentice Certificate or graduation from Navy Nuclear Power School can be substituted for an Associate’s Degree.
